Digital Radio Receivers

There are currently three types of DAB sets available:

Hi-fi Tuners

In-car Sets

Computer Plug-ins

Ghettoblaster and Walkman type receivers are currently under development and should reach the shops late in 2001.

A stand-alone 'portable' set is available from Roberts Radio.

Hi-fi Tuners

DAB tuners plug into any existing hi-fi installation and some come with integral AM and FM tuners.

Sets are currently available from:

VideoLogic, Technics, Sony, Arcam, Tag McLaren and Cymbol

NEW
The new VideoLogic DRX-601E DAB hi-fi tuner is available from leading high street retailers and hi-fi specialist stores at £299!

Prices range from £299 to £2300

In-Car Sets

At the moment most DAB car sets are separate boot mounted boxes which plug into existing top of the range dashboard units.  In most cases an additional DAB aerial will be required.

DAB sets are available from all the leading manufacturers including:

Sony, Pioneer, Clarion, VDO Dayton, Grundig, Bosch, Blaupunkt

Prices start from £349

Computer Plug-ins

PCI plug-in cards are available from Bosch and Terratek but it is unclear as to whether they will decode the data services being proposed for UK transmissions.  More details when we get them.

NEW
An innovative product from Psion called the Wavefinder is a DAB active aerial that plugs into the USB port on a computer.  Software is supplied to provide a very flexible user interface and decode the data services.  Available from Dixons and PC World at £199!
